The Office Convention in Scranton

The writing staff and I are going. There is a Halloween costume contest and an Office Olympics. A bunch of the cast are going — I don’t know who but I think around eight are confirmed. It’s October 26 through 28 in Scranton PA. I think they are showing episodes in movie theaters around town. Should be a good time. Hopefully Triumph the Insult Comic Dog will come and make fun of us.

Dave: It should be better than Bionicon, which I went to this summer.

Greg: He’s still angry about that. Lee Majors did not show up.

Whee! So, that’s Greg, Mike, Jen, Gene & Lee, Justin, Brent, Anthony… can’t think of the other new guy. Mindy was already confirmed… does this mean that Paul and B.J. are going, too? I mean, they’re writers, right?

Tickets? I love tickets! Ticket sales for the OfficeCon got underway yesterday morning at 10:00 AM, and by all reports sales were brisk:

Following 10 minutes of technical glitches, the convention Web site’s PayPal system was up and running smoothly by 10:10 a.m.

Within the first five minutes, more than $24,000 worth of tickets were sold. By the end of the first hour, the number was up to $54,208.46, said Carolyn Timlin of the accounting department of The Times-Tribune, one of the event’s sponsors.

“(The fans) were on the ball. They were definitely there at 10 o’clock refreshing the page,” said Tucker Hottes, the site’s webmaster.

Sales progressively tapered off as the day wore on.

By 3:40 p.m., the tally was at $63,900.74, Ms. Timlin said.

$64,000.00 will buy a LOT of pretzels, folks.

Commitments to attend the convention include the following cast members: Brian Baumgartner (Kevin), Creed Bratton (Creed), Kate Flannery (Meredith), Mindy Kaling (Kelly), Phyllis Smith (Phyllis), Leslie David Baker (Stanley) and Oscar Nunez (Oscar)

Blogging The Office Convention

So here it is the end of September, and we finally know some more general specifics about the upcoming Office Convention. Here’s what we know so far:

• The convention will be held in Scranton, PA on October 26 – 28
• Tickets go on sale, September 25, 10 AM (EST)
• Ticket prices vary from $25 up to $250 dollars (US)
• We have no idea who, if anyone from the cast of the show will be in attendance

I don’t know why, but I have faith in these people. I hope they don’t prove me wrong.
